Sunny Days... In the Office.

 Glasses: Andy Wolf Eyewear
Belt: Target
Skirt: ModCloth / Similar
Shoes: Nordstrom

Oh, hey guys! Remember me? Sorry for the radio silence the last few weeks. Our biggest event of the year at work was about a week ago and I was working 60-85 hour weeks for about 3 weeks leading up to it. I even worked 11 days in a row at one point! Suffice it to say, I was a bit tied up and, sadly, wasn't able to find time to keep up with the ol' blog. But I missed you guys! And I'm glad to be back. And to have some time to catch up on your blogs and see what you've been up to the last few weeks!

Seattle is now in full on spring mode and I couldn't be loving it more. Since I work downtown now, I've been enjoying have bus access that allows me to jet off to different parts of town after work to hang out in the park or do some exploring. This time of year, it can be a bit tough dressing for work: I want something I can stay warm in for 8 hours in an air conditioned office, but that won't be too warm when I get done and head to the park. And obviously, it needs to be cute, too! I've been really loving this lightweight cardigan from Conversation Pieces for such reasons and can't get over its cute pointelle fabric pattern. Do any of you guys have this cold office problem, too?

Besides enjoying the spring weather and living at work the last few weeks, I've been having fun trying to check out some films during SIFF (the Seattle International Film Festival), catching a few concerts, obsessing over the new Mirah album, and exercising. Yes, that's right lady and gentleman, this lady finally joined a gym. I have to say, I'm really liking it so far! Even though everything is kicking my ass, I feel like I can improve and actually feel awesome when I leave. Here's to new healthy habits!

How have you guys been enjoying the glorious spring weather? Are you SO pumped for summer? I know I am!

XOXO

Spring Gingham

 Glasses: BonLook
Tights: DKNY

Man, this weekend was about 3 days too short! Try as I might, there was no way I was getting everything done. But oh well! It was a long, long week at work, so on Friday, I was set on coming home, watching the season finale of Scandal, and going to bed early.

I used to work about a mile from my place, so I used to walk to work every day. Since I live up a big hill from there, I managed to get a decent workout walking to and from work each day. Now that I work downtown and am bussing in, I've been feeling like I'm really lacking in the ol' exercise department. So! I decided I wanted to join the gym in the building I work in. I got myself all determined to go during the week, and then as I was starting to gather my things, I realized that while I had workout clothes, I didn't own a single pair of shoes I could wear to the gym. Oh brother. So, Saturday, I bought myself the first pair of running shoes I've had in my adult life. I also bought a tv, which was the first one of those I've had in my adult life, so Saturday was a goofy day!

Since Sunday was Easter, I headed over to my parents' house to have some lunch and eat way too much candy. I ended up wearing this darling gingham skirt that I picked up at Trove Vintage a few weeks ago and loved looking festive. I don't think I'll ever have enough gingham- it's one of my favorites! In addition to a tasty lunch, my family also played a game of Boggle. I won! This is real exciting, because I've never won against my sister in the 19 or so years we've been playing. I'm pretty damn good at Boggle, but my sister is amazing. Triumph!

Anyway, while I got some stuff done this weekend, I still have lots on my to-do list, so hopefully I'll have a productive week.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun for Easter?

XOXO
Becca

P.S. Sorry these photos have kind of a grey hue to them. For the couple of weeks, Blogger has decided to upload all of my photos with a grey tint. I've tried messing with the auto-enhance feature to no avail. Do any of you know how to fix this? It's real pesky.

Dreamy Daffodils

 Glasses: BonLook
Necklace: c/o Woodii
Dress: Diane von Furstenburg (SUPER on sale years ago)
Tights: Nordstrom

Well golly it sure has been nice around here! Between the sunny skies, longer days, and pretty blooms everywhere (of course alternating with lots of rain), it sure is starting to feel like spring!

I was looking through my closet over the weekend, seeing what pretty frocks I could pull out of the woodwork (and taking note of how desperately my closet needs a purging, yikes), when I pulled out this dress. It's definitely one of my favorite dresses ever. I was thumbing through a sale rack at Nordstrom something like 7 years ago when I found this dreamy daffodil printed dress by Diane von Furstenburg that was marked down to something like 75% off. The print is a little bolder than what I would usually wear at the time, but once I tried it on, I knew it needed to come home with me.

I adore the daffodil print on this dress, can't get over how flattering the cut is, and love that it has pockets (duh). What's not to love? Since we had such a gorgeous weekend, it had to get worn.

Other than wearing awesome daffodil print dresses, the weekend was fairly uneventful. I spent most of the weekend at home relaxing, cleaning, and cooking. I made some really cute cupcakes for Easter that I'll be sharing later this week, and also made some chili!

I've been really trying to take to heart one of my goals for the year, which is to eat better. I've been doing really well with it lately, but with Easter coming up, I obviously needed to whip up something to sate my sweet tooth. We'll talk more about cupcakes later this week- promise!

Did you guys get up to anything fun this weekend?

Transitional

 Glasses: Andy Wolf Eyewear
Dress: Anthropologie/Similar
Belt: Anthropologie/Similar
Tights: Nordstrom
Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens/Similar

Hi guys! Sorry things have been a bit quiet around here lately! I'm now 1 month in to my new job and really loving it. I'm learning a lot, and love feeling like I'm working in an environment that I can actively contribute to. It's pretty great!

While the new job is awesome, I'm going through a phase where I'm really re-adjusting to have a good work/life/blog balance. I'm working 8 hours+ more a week than I did at my previous job, so I've lost a good chunk of the time I was previously able to devote to blogging. I still love having this blog and being a part of this amazing community, but I've had to cut back to maintain myself stay in a good place and not get too stressed out. I'm hoping that as I continue to adjust to my new schedule, I'll be able to find a bit more time to devote to sharing recipes and projects. I've always loved doing those posts, but they're admittedly quite time consuming. Thanks for bearing with me the last month while things have been so quiet around here!

Speaking of transitions, I always have such a hard time with my wardrobe when we get to this time of year. It's warmer, but not warm. It's sunny one minute, and raining the next. Does anyone else feel like when spring rolls around you have to be prepared for all sorts of weather on any given day? I'm finding that while I'm definitely bringing more summery pieces into my wardrobe, I still need to rock a pair of tights and keep some cozier pieces on hand. Which is to say, spring is still all about layering!

One of my favorite layering pieces right now is this gorgeous scarf from Conversation Pieces. I'm completely in love with the color and pattern and am finding that it's the perfect weight to keep me cozy, without being overwhelmingly hot like a lot of my winter scarves. It's all about good layering pieces!

Weekend-wise, things were relatively quiet. Friday night I ran some errands and caught up on Scandal (OMG!!!!!!), Saturday I had breakfast and did some shopping with my friend, Michele, and then had dinner and drinks with my friend Levi, later on. Sunday, I honestly lazed in bed with the cats longer than I care to admit, before doing some last minute tidying up and cooking. It was a pretty low-key weekend, but it was nice to recharge.

Today it's supposed to be in the 70s (!!!) so I'm hoping I'll get to spend some time outside even though I'll be working all day.

How was your weekend? Did you get up to anything fun?

XOXO

Black and White and Green All Over

 Glasses: BonLook
T-Shirt: Anthropologie/Similar
Necklace: A gift from my old co-workers
Belt: Anthropologie/Similar
Skirt: ModCloth
Tights: Nordstrom

Oh man, was this weekend ever typical for Seattle spring. Yes, it may look gloriously sunny in these photos, (and it was!), but just the day before it had been pouring rain. There was thunder and lightning and everything! Oh, spring weather.

Well, despite the pouring rain, the sunshine on Sunday sure made for a nice weekend! Now that it's starting to warm up a bit and we're having some dry days here and there, I've been busting out my favorite warmer weather pieces, like these dreamy Swedish Hasbeens. Even after practically living in these puppies last summer, I still can't get over the cute cut-outs on these shoes. So in love. I also finally ironed my favorite green skirt, so I decided to pair the two with a striped t-shirt and some black tights.

Now, you may not realize it, but I just about never wear black. I recently stated to Katie, that I was trying to branch out a bit by bringing some black into my wardrobe, and we had a good giggle about how wearing black is a daring fashion choice for me. I'm such a weirdo.

As far as the weekend goes, I spent Saturday doing a cooking experiment, which you'll be hearing about eventually, and watching Golden Girls. Hey, sometimes you gotta get your lazy on. Also, Golden Girls is kind of the best show ever, so no shame there!

Sunday I met up with Katie and Jeremy for brunch. We ate some ridiculously good food, gossiped, and generally had a blast. After brunch, we all watched a few episodes of the current season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Do you guys watch? If you are, who are your favorite queens this season? I'm dying over Darrien Lake, Adore, and Bianca. If you don't watch, you definitely should. It's too good! Katie had never seen it before, so Jeremy and I had fun filling her in on everything, and we collectively cackled away.

I should have done some serious cleaning, but I didn't manage to take care of much. I swear, one of these days I'll get all my cleaning done, but alas, there just were not enough hours in the weekend this week.

Did you guys get up to anything fun this weekend?

Spring Has Sprung!

 Glasses: Andy Wolf Eyewear
Necklace: A gift from my old coworkers
Cardigan: Boden
Dress: Vintage/Similar
Belt: Anthropologie/Similar
Tights: Nordstrom
Flats: J.Crew/Similar

Well, it's official: spring has sprung! While I'm still wearing a warm coat most of the time, it's so wonderful having longer, brighter days, and it's equally great watching all the plants bloom and spring back to life.

It's certainly not warm enough to go without tights yet, but I'm starting to put some of my warmer dresses back in the closet and am starting to dig out some of my favorite cotton dresses. This blue vintage number is one of my favorites. It's not anywhere near perfect condition, but the color and shape totally make me feel like Cinderella!

It was the perfect frock to wear to go look at the gorgeous cherry trees at UW with Katie on Saturday! We had been hoping to do some photos by those cherry trees, but the crowds were out of control, so we decided to settle for these pretty trees instead. Hopefully I can share some shots of the cherry blossoms later this week!

Besides hanging out with Katie, this weekend I spent Friday night eating pizza and watching Scandal and then Golden Girls with my friend, Jeremy, had a lot of lazy time, finally ironed some skirts I've been meaning to iron for weeks (isn't being an adult the worst sometimes?), and saw The Grand Budapest Hotel with my friend, Zack. Ya'll, that might be my very favorite Wes Anderson movie. I was giggling pretty much non-stop and truly loved almost every second of it. If you've been thinking about seeing it, I would urge you to do so soon! I was all smiles the rest of the day after I saw it.

I will say, after taking a week off from the blog world, it's tough getting back into the swing of things, but I'm doing so slowly but surely. While it was nice to have the break, I certainly missed you guys! I love keeping up with you guys, so I'm glad to be catching up.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?

The Best Raincoat

Glasses: BonLook
Raincoat: Boden
Dress: Boden
Belt: Anthropologie/Similar
Tights: Nordstrom
Shoes: J. Crew/Similar

Well guys, I finally did it. I bought a raincoat! Not just any raincoat, but the cutest one I've ever laid eyes on.

Given that I live in Seattle, you'd think I'd own one or two raincoats by now. Well, turns out, I'm picky as all get out and stubborn as hell. For years I've known I should get a raincoat, but for years all I could find were plain, boring raincoats, that fit poorly and just made no sense for my style. Seriously, it's hard to find a raincoat you can wear a dress under!

Well, a couple months back, Boden released this pink polka-dotted beauty. I was in love. I finally took the plunge and bought it, and it arrived in the mail last week. I can wear it with a dress, it's adorable, AND it keeps me dry! It's seriously too perfect for words.

And ya know what? I got it just in time. After a surprisingly lovely, surprisingly dry winter in the Northwest, spring is upon us, and boy is it a rainy one (as witnessed by my super frizzy hair. Ugh. Does anyone else have this problem?).

These photos were taken during a dry spell we had for about an hour on Sunday afternoon. Katie and I had headed out to the outlet malls to do some shopping. I ended up leaving empty handed, but Katie definitely found some good stuff! After our shopping and photos, we headed to the Tulalip Casino for my very first time gambling. Just to preface it, I never win anything luck based. Never. So, I didn't exactly have the highest hopes. We ended up playing a few different slot machines, and while I was seriously losing at first, I happened upon some lucky machine and all in all ended up leaving $20 richer. Woo!

Otherwise, the weekend was a pretty lazy one. I ended up coming down with a cold on my first day at my new job last week, so between that and the new job itself, I was pretty worn out. By the way, sorry things were a bit quiet around here last week- the cold was to blame!

Anyway, all in all it was a very nice weekend and I'm looking forward to a healthier week this week!

Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

Til next time!

Weekly Wardrobe: Pleats Please!

 Glasses: BonLook
Cardigan: H&M
T-shirt: Urban Outfitters (circa 2005)
Belt: Anthropologie/Similar
Skirt: Zara
Tights: Nordstrom
Flats: J. Crew/Similar

Well, guys, it was quite a weekend! As you may have read in this post, Friday was my last day working at Theo Chocolate, a company I've spent the last 5 years working for. My last day there could not have been more amazing. I was met with flowers and baked goods that morning, had lunch with my department, and then headed to drinks with my coworkers for my going away party at the end of the day.

It's kind of stupid, but I feel really confident about friendships and interacting with people one on one, and then as soon as I'm presented with a group situation, particularly one centered around me, I'm immediately convinced that no one likes me and no one will come. Well, my coworkers squashed the hell out of those insecurities. Over 30 people, including the CEO of the company, came out for my going away party, and really showed me an amazing time. Between the thoughtful things people said, the shows of support, the card signed by almost the whole company, and the sweet gifts people gave me, I couldn't have been more touched or more overwhelmed by people's kindness. I'm sad to have left behind such an amazing group of coworkers, but I know I won't be a stranger and have been told that I'm welcome back any time. It pretty much took everything in me to not be choked up all day.

Since Friday was such a big day, I let myself have a reaaaalllllll lazy Saturday. Admittedly, I was a bit hung over when I woke up, but also just tired from having such an emotional day on Friday. On top of that, I had to rest up, because I had big plans on Sunday!

My friend, Michele, and I have the most amazing Oscars tradition, and so Oscars day is one of my favorite days of the year. We meet up, make ribs, drink champagne, and watch the Oscars and the red carpet. What could be better? Oh, well, let me tell you. This year we upped the ante and added Raspberry Champagne Jell-O shots to the menu! So good! It was a blast cooking, talking about all the Oscars red carpet fashion, and watching the awards.

Today, I've got a whole bunch of errands to run, and then tomorrow is the big day: I start my new job!

All in all, it was a REALLY amazing weekend, and I'm looking forward to the adventures this week will have in store.

What did you get up to this weekend? Do you have any Oscars traditions?

XOXO
Becca
