Weekend Wardrobe and 100th Post!

Sweater: Forever 21; Necklace: Woodii; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Skirt: Lucky Vintage/Similar; Shoes: ModCloth

Despite the warm weather we've had in Seattle all week, fall is definitely on its way. There's a beautiful golden cast to the evening light, the leaves are starting to turn, and it's gotten too cool at night to keep the windows open.

Since it's really just warm midday and actually quite chilly in the mornings and evenings, I've been starting to sneak cool weather clothes into my wardrobe. Tights have been making appearances in the evenings, I'm starting to bust out some slightly cozy tops, and I have no concern about wearing a wool skirt. This outfit is a great example of that!

I'm really getting into full fall day-dreaming mode. I'm dreaming of brisk walks on crisp days, walking bundled up through the outdoor flea market with a good friend and a warm drink in hand, staying in on rainy days drinking hot chocolate while listening to records, and making up big heaping pots of comfort food.

Oh fall, you're the best. What are you guys looking forward to for fall?

In other news, this is my 100th blog post, and in another month I will have been blogging for 6 months! How cool is that? I'm totally having a blast blogging and looking forward to my next 100 posts, and even more after that!

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe- Golden!

Top: Forever 21/Similar; Necklace: Er... no idea/Similar; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Skirt: Anthropologie/Similar; Flats: J Crew

Well, first things first: I'm a brunette! Yes sir, I dyed my hair on Friday. Guys, I love it so much. The change has been really fun!

The weekend itself was quite nice! I've been off of work on Fridays this summer, so I kicked my weekend off on Thursday night with dinner and drinks. Then on Friday I got my hair done, had tea with a dear friend at the market, and had a belated birthday dinner with another good friend of mine.

Saturday I had an awesome time hanging out with Katie Marie V! We started the day at Buffalo Exchange since she had some clothes to sell, then had some lunch and went thrifting. Katie managed to find two pairs of amazing boots, and I found an awesome fall jacket. It's actually too small, but it has a ton of seam allowance so I'm going to let it out. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

After we finished up thrifting, we went for a walk on the UW campus where these photos were taken. It's a really gorgeous part of town full of lovely, giant old buildings, so it's always fun to check out. Katie went to school at UW so it was fun hearing about her time there. We talked a lot about how neither of us had very traditional college experiences, and also discussed some interesting stuff in regards to the changes we've been noticing in society and the world around us. That Katie is a smart lady, so it was great bending her ear.

Sunday was a day for errands and getting things done. But hey! Those things are important, too.

All in all, I had a fantastic weekend. How about you guys? Did you do anything fun?

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe

Dress: Vintage/Similar; Hair Bow: DIY; Necklace: Oh my gosh, I have no idea! I've had it for years/Similar; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Shoes: ModCloth

Hey guys! I hope you all got to have a nice long weekend! I was actually on staycation all last week, which was pretty great. As nice as it was to be off last week, though, I did have some sad times. One of my dearest friends flew out of Seattle on Sunday to begin a new adventure in a new city. I am so incredibly excited for her, but my heart is a little heavy knowing that I won't get to see her on a weekly basis anymore. It's always hard when friends move away.

Heavy heart aside, it was a very nice weekend! Apart from helping with moving preparations, I had a fun mini-slumber party at my house, put some new shelves up in the living room with a lot of help from my dad, and worked on a fun project that I'm excited to share with you guys later this week!

Even though I haven't gone back to work yet, I'm already excited for next weekend! Guys, I've been rocking my natural hair color for a few years, but for the last few months, I've been falling prey to the siren song of darker hair. I loved being blonde as a kid, but when my hair started to darken up as a teenager, I pretty much wanted nothing more than to have brown hair. It's not there yet, so I'm going in to get my hair dyed a couple of shades darker on Friday! I'm pretty pumped about it.

Did you guys do anything fun over the long (or regular length) weekend? Any fun plans for the rest of your week?

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe: Come On, Fall! Get Here!

'
Headscarf: Vintage/Similar; Necklace: Woodii; Vintage Cardigan: Trove Vintage/Similar; T-shirt: Urban Outfitters; Jeans: Urban Outfitters; Flats: ModCloth.

Well, guys, it's official. My brain is convinced that it's fall. Yea, I know, it's still August, but something about the cool evenings, gorgeous evening light, and my deep seeded love of cozy clothing has me yearning.

Practically, I can't bust out all of my fall clothing yet, but I'm taking every opportunity I can get to bust out pieces here and there.

I picked this cardigan up at Trove Vintage in Ballard a couple of weeks ago, and am completely in love with it. I've been using every excuse possible to wear it. On Sunday I even wore it to a sunny day at the farmers market because it was a touch chilly. I'm pretty sure I'll be living in it once the weather cools down a bit more.

We should probably also talk about that fact that I'm wearing pants. Pants! I know, weird. I own 3 pairs of pants these days, 2 of which have been acquired in the last month. I don't usually wear pants because, in all honesty, they're less comfortable to me than dresses, but also because I usually have a SUPER hard time finding any that fit me (you may notice, I have some very, er, womanly hips). Well, turns out Urban Outfitters has changed the sizing on their jeans somewhat recently, and now they fit like a glove! So that's fun! Pants!

In other news, I'm currently on staycation! I'll be off of work through Labor Day, so I'm hoping to spend lots of time canning, organizing, working of projects, hanging out with the cats, and hanging out with a good friend of mine who is moving at the end of the month. I've also got some birthday festivities planned, so it should be a great week!

Do you guys have anything exciting planned for the week ahead?

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe- Discovery Park

Top: Thrifted/Similar; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Skirt: Vintage/Similar; Shoes: ModCloth

Late in the afternoon on Sunday, Katie Marie V and I decided to take a little trip to Discovery Park! Discovery Park is actually a super cool spot. It's the largest park in Seattle, clocking in at 534 acres, and has everything from beaches, to gorgeous old buildings built as part of Fort Lawton in the early 1900s, to sprawling forests, meadows, and everything in between.

I was particularly thrilled to come across this meadow because you don't come across settings like this every day in Seattle. The meadow was hopping with crickets, so we carefully made our way through to this spot, which had the most gorgeous lighting I've seen in a while.

The skirt I'm wearing is one of the most ridiculous pieces of clothing I own, and thus one of my favorites. Seriously, can we talk about the trim for a minute? There's ric-rac in 3 sizes and 4 colors, loop-de-loops, ribbon, piping, and wool fringe. Wool fringe! It's like someone went shopping for trim and liked too many kinds, but instead of choosing a couple decided to choose all of them. And that's why I love it!

I decided to pair the skirt with this top I thrifted when Katie and I went shopping a few weeks ago, a simple white belt to bring the pieces together, and my current living-in-them flats. It was a pretty perfect outfit for a nice stroll through the park.

I had an amazing time at the park with Katie, strolling around, chatting, and having some photo shoot time. We finished off our day with some frozen yogurt, which really put the cherry on top of the sundae(sorry. So much pun).

How was your weekend? Did you have any fun adventures?

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe: Late Summer Light

Top: ModCloth; Pocket Knife Necklace: Snash Jewelry, Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Skirt: Anthropologie; Flats: ModCloth

Well, folks, it's been another busy weekend! I spent Friday picking berries with my mom (more on that later this week!), Saturday running errands, having a shopping trip with my friend, Michele, and working on projects, and Sunday I got to spend a good chunk of the day with Katie Marie V!

We began our day with a quick shopping trip in the U District, where I managed to actually find a pair of jeans that fit! After some shopping, we headed over to the frozen yogurt shop for a treat, and then headed towards the Ballard Chittenden Locks.

The Locks are a super cool spot! Basically, they were built to connect Lake Washington, Lake Union, and Salmon Bay to the Puget Sound. Those lakes are actually above sea level, so the locks are used to maintain that water level and prevent the mix of fresh water and salt water. That's all very technical, but they're cool!

And there's more than just that! There's also a fish ladder so the migration of fish, like salmon, can continue to happen even with the locks in place (Man, this is like the most Northwest-y post I've ever written!), and some gorgeous park space and botanical gardens.

Katie and I spent the afternoon roaming around and taking everything in. We particularly loved strolling through the park space and the botanical gardens since they stayed a bit less crowded. It was a pretty great afternoon!

The thing that really surprised me today was the light. After a few cool days I thought we'd completely returned to summer, but guys, can you see it? That light looks like fall. I'm going to drink in this gorgeous August weather as much as I can, but I think I'm going to be ready when the cooler days roll around.

What did you guys get up to this weekend?

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe: A Pink Dress at the Pink House

Dress: Anthropologie; Necklace: Snash Jewelry; Belt: Vintage/Similar; Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens; Hair pins: DIY.

Wow, it was a busy weekend! Lately I've been feeling like it would be reeeallly convenient if the day was 4 hours longer. If I had a 28 hour day, I'd for sure be caught up on everything going on!

The summer weather has been just lovely the last week or so, and with it comes gorgeous produce at the farmers market. Friday I hit up the Phinney Ridge farmers market to purchase some of the summer bounty, and then headed home for some Friday night baking! I tried out another batch of cupcakes for my friends' wedding that's happening in a couple of weeks (!!!), and BOY were they good! More on that tomorrow. Promise!

Saturday was my dad'd birthday, so I headed to my parents' cute pink house for some birthday celebration! My sister and I gave my dad basically ALL the snacks for his birthday, which he was very pleased about! He didn't have much of a sweet tooth, other than for fruit, when my sister and I were kids, so I think we kind of delight in the fact that he's turned into a sugar fiend like the rest of us. It was a lovely afternoon with family, followed by a lovely evening getting drinks with my friend, Sarah.

Sunday was busy, busy, busy, running errands, working on projects, cleaning the house, and doing some canning (pickled okra!).

All in all a good weekend!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun or work on any fun projects?

Til next time!

P.S. I'm still in the running to have my string art project turned into a DIY kit with Whimsey Box! If you haven't done so already, by sure to stop by craftgawker.com and favorite my project. There are only a few more days to vote!
