Parmesan Crisps!

Hi guys! Today I'm going to show you how to whip up some parmesan crisps. Yum!

Parmesan crisps are essentially parmesan cheese baked in the oven until golden brown, then broken up to make an absurdly delicious cracker-like creation. They are so good. And so easy!

Parmesan Crisps:
Ingredients:

  • Parmesan cheese. The good stuff. None of that terrifying non-refrigerated stuff. And hey, not the refrigerated pre-grated stuff either. It doesn't behave the same (trust me, I tried). Use a hunk of Parmagiano-Regianno. I used about 4oz.
  • Basil or other herbs of your choice. Or no herbs at all. You do you.
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Shred your cheese using the small holed side of a cheese grater.
2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spread your cheese out on it. Don't spread it too thin. Keep the pile like, 1/8"-1/4" thick.
3. If you are using basil (or another herb), chop it until it's nice and fine.
4. Sprinkle the chopped up basil over the top of the cheese, and then mix it together with your hands. I did mine half with basil and half without. Variety is the spice of life, after all! If you wanted to do the whole thing with basil you could certainly add it and mix it before spreading everything out on the tray.

5. Put your tray in the oven and let bake. Depending on how thickly you laid out your cheese, this could take anywhere between 3 and 15 minutes (really.). You can tell it's done when it's golden brown. Now when I say golden brown, I don't just mean around the edges. I mean the whole damn thing is golden brown. If you don't let it all get there you'll have kind of half cooked bits of parmesan cheese that are neither crunchy nor soft. Trust me, you don't want that.

6. When done, remove from the oven, let cool, then break into smaller pieces and enjoy!
These parmesan crisps are delicious on their own, but would be great with dip (hummus anyone?), or used as the base for an appetizer. Heck, serve these with some tomato soup and it will probably make your whole day.

I hope you enjoy them!

Til next time!

Weekend Wardrobe: Sunny Day Dress

Dress: Vintage/Similar; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Shoes: J Crew

As I mentioned in my wishlist post last week, I'm kind of in love with the sunny combination of yellow and white right now. I found this dress on the sale rack at a vintage store about a year ago for a measly $7. I obviously brought it home. For the longest time, though, there's been something about it that, well, needs something.

This weekend I decided to try my hand at fixing it up. First I thought I would shorten it and make it a v-neck, but after pinning that out, I decided against it. I was enjoying the longer length, and felt like it just needed something at the neckline, so I added a knit pointelle peter pan collar.

You can see the before and after above! What do you guys think, collar or no collar? I kind of love it both ways.

Regardless, check back later in the week because I'll be showing you how to pattern out a peter pan collar for any plain neckline you want to add one to!

Weekly Wishlist: Yellow and White Prints

1. Belt: Ruche; 2. Sweater: Ruche; 3. Shoes: Anthropologie; 4. Skirt: ModCloth; 5. Terrarium Necklace: Woodii shop on Etsy.

This week I'm falling in love with yellow and white prints. As per usual, summer hasn't hit Seattle quite yet, so I'm craving bright, sunny pieces. This striped sweater from Ruche is made of cotton so it would still be a great piece to wear on a sunny day, especially if paired with this adorable yellow and white polka dot wedges from Anthropologie! Admittedly they're a little higher than I would usually wear for walking up and down the hills in Seattle, but they're so cute I can't help but wish for them anyway!

When I wear bright colors, I usually end up pairing them with some neutral pieces like this adorable belt from Ruche and this super sweet fit and flare skirt from ModCloth.

My favorite thing on this whole list is this Terrarium Necklace from the Woodii shop on Etsy. It's filled with sand, pebbles, a pretty stone, and some beautiful moss. I love the idea of wearing a little terrarium all around town. Better yet, it's made by a local designer in Seattle! Love, love, love!

What are you wishing for this week?

Warby Parker Class Trip

Last night my friend, Katie and I headed to Ballard to check out an event happening as part of the Warby Parker Class Trip. We had so much fun!

There was food, beer, a photobooth, and of course, a yellow school bus full of beautiful glasses frames! The bus itself was super crowded, so I didn't spend quite as much time perusing the frames as I would have liked, but the good news is that they'll be in Seattle until July 7th so I'll have plenty of time to check them out again!

Katie and I had a blast checking out the design of the Hilliard's building, trying on frames in the Warby Parker bus, and snapping pictures in the photobooth. It was a fantastic night!

Weekday Wardrobe

Cardigan: ModCloth; Dress: Vintage/Similar; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Tights: Nordstrom; Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens

Tonight my friend Katie, of the blog Katie Marie V, and I went and checked out a party at Hilliard's in Ballard that was thrown as part of the Warby Parker Class Trip (more on that later!). First, we obviously had to have an outfit photo shoot! It was a bit of a chilly day, but I still wanted to wear something cute, so I wore lots of blues and tried to keep things springy.

I'm obsessed with this dress, with its gingham print, cute collar, and adorable bow tie. I love the way it looks with this navy blue cardigan from ModCloth, but it also looks adorable with no sweater at all, especially since I fixed up the ripped sleeves earlier in the week (and the belt. see how on this post!). I'm so glad I picked it up on a thrifting trip a couple of weeks ago.

I've also been living in these Swedish Hasbeens recently and love that they look just as cute with tights as they do without. With the exception of rainy days, I think I'll be wearing them all year round.

Katie and I had a lovely time at the party. Check back Thursday for some peeks at the evening!

Til next time!

P.S: Thanks to Katie for always taking the best pictures of me!
