Weekly Wardrobe- Warmer Days

Ok, guys, real talk: these photos were taken a few weeks ago. Yes, a few weeks ago it was, in fact, warm enough to be outdoors in just a t-shirt. Those days have passed at this point, and I'm piling on more and more layers. Most of the leaves have turned and are falling off the trees, and the daylight hours have shortened substantially.

But you know what? I love it. AND I totally love this outfit. Just add a sweater, a scarf, and a jacket, and this is totally perfect for the current fall weather!

Speaking of chilly weather, it was pretty darn chilly this weekend! And ya know what? It lent itself perfectly to my lazy lazy weekend. I did a whole lot of nothing this weekend, and it was awesome!  I got sick last week and got some news at work that is going to make this holiday season extra hectic, so I was really happy to have the opportunity to lay low.

While, I was realllll lazy, I did get some awesome stuff done. I came up with not one, but three Halloween costume ideas (finally!), made a delicious cake, which I will obviously share with you later this week, found an amazing 60s vintage dress at Trove Vintage that I couldn't leave without, did laundry, cleaned the house a bit, and started crocheting a new scarf! Ok, maybe I was busier than I thought...

Anyway, it was a wonderfully semi-lazy weekend, and I'm excited for the week ahead!

How was your weekend?

Til next time!

Weekly Wishlist: Cozy Coats under $275!

Alright guys, time for some real talk: I haven't bought a new winter coat in 6 years. Even more real talk: I have two winter coats and the other one is 10 years old. 10 years old! I got that sucker when I was 16!

Now, to be fair I've picked up jackets in more recent years, but still. My winter coats are shot to shit. The linings are falling apart, I've sewn the buttons back on more times than I can count, and they've had the pills shaved off of them about a million times. What can I say? I love them!

But guys, this is it. This is going to be the year that I buy myself a new winter coat. And ya know what? It's a good year to do it! There are so many gorgeous coats around.

The coats shown above are some of my very favorites out right now. I tend to like coats made from gorgeous fabrics, that are rather feminine, and feature lovely details. These ones all fit the ticket there!

When it comes down to it though, when I buy a coat, I'm really looking for an investment piece. I want something that's not too trendy, will look great for quite a few seasons (as witnessed by my current two winter coats!), and will keep me cozy. With all of these coats being under $275 (and a lot of them being under $200!), I'd consider any of these a great investment for the winter!

Til next time!

A Playlist to Rock Out To!

So, you know those days where you wake up on the wrong side of the bed and need an instant pick-me-up? For some people that might be a cup of coffee, for others another 15 minutes sleeping, but for me, it's a really awesome playlist.

Now, there are awesome playlists of all kinds, but when I really want to pump myself up, smile my damn face off, and rock the hell out, it's going to be something punk inspired like this one.

This playlist is rad. It's got two of my Top 5 Favorite Bands (Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and The Clash), lots of kick-ass ladies (X-Ray Spex, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Le Tigre, Sleigh Bells), and it spans quite a few decades (from the 70s through to the '10s (The '10s? Is that what this decade is called?)).

Anyway, it's great. If you need a good pick-me-up, if you need to rock-out, or if you've got yourself a punk rock heart, I hope this playlist will make you grin from ear to ear and make you feel like you can conquer the world!
Til next time!

Mulled Apple Cider

Hey guys! Today I'll be sharing my recipe for Mulled Apple Cider! Now this drink is delicious on its own, but if you want to get fancy and are looking for something boozy, I've got a good option for that, too!

This Mulled Apple Cider embodies fall. It's got the crisp taste of the apples, melded with the warm spices, all heated up into a nice cozy drink. It's perfect to whip up on a crisp fall day, and will make your house smell AMAZING. It's also incredibly easy to make, so we'll dive right into the recipe!
Mulled Apple Cider: Serves 4-8, depending on how big of a serving you would like!

Ingredients:
- 1/2 gallon apple cider, or unfiltered apple juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 pods star anise
- 4 pods cardamom
- 4 black peppercorns
- 8 whole cloves (appx. 1 tsp)
- 12 allspice berries (appx. 1/2 tsp)
- Bourbon (optional!)
1. Double up a 12" square of cheesecloth, and place the spices in the center. Then, tie the ends of the cheesecloth together or tie a piece of cooking twine around the top to make a little bundle of spices.

Note: You can also totally skip the cheesecloth, you'll just have to strain the spices out later.
2. Pour the cider into a large pot and add the sachet of spices. Then, bring the cider to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

3. Once the cider has come to a boil, remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let sit for 30 minutes (or more if you want!) to let the spices steep.
4. Once the spices have steeped into the cider to your liking, ladle your Mulled Apple Cider into cups and serve!
5. If you want to make a boozy version, just pour a shot's worth of bourbon (I used Bulleit, which is one of my favorites) into the cup before ladling the cider. Then, ladle that cider, give it a stir, and it's ready to serve!
How easy is that? This Mulled Apple Cider is a surprisingly-quick-to-put-together fall drink, that's a total crowd-pleaser. And once more for emphasis, it will, legit, make your house smell amazing.

I hope you get a chance to try it out soon!

Til next time!

Weekly Wardrobe and Some Ch-Ch-Changes!

Glasses: BonLook ; Scarf: No idea!/Similar; Sweater: J. Crew; Dress: Fleet Collection from ModCloth; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Tights: Nordstrom; Flats: J. Crew

Hey Buddies!

I hope you all had a nice weekend! I decided I needed to slow things down a bit this weekend, and made the executive decision to do absolutely nothing most of Saturday. It was realllllllly nice. I also worked on some quick projects, had some fun on Saturday night, and had a nice dinner with my friend, Nicole, on Sunday. It was a nice, low-key weekend, which is just what I needed!

Speaking of slowing things down, I wanted to let you all know that I'm going to be posting a littttttle bit less than I have been. It won't be anything drastic; I'll just be posting 4 times a week instead of 5.

As we've been heading into the fall months, and the days are getting shorter every single day, I'm finding that I just can't manage to get as many projects done. I mean, the sun's down by 7, so trying to shoot anything after work just ain't happening. As a result, I've been stressing out and dropping a lot of balls. I think posting 4 days a week will be much easier to keep up with and will let me catch up a bit more on non-blog-related life stuff (like cleaning... ahem).

I'm also excited to let you know that I've invited some of my favorite blogging ladies to do guest posts on Ladyface Blog, so look out for those in the coming months! I'm excited to introduce you to these great ladies (if you're not already following along with them)!

I also wanted to check in with you guys and ask, are there any types of posts that you would like to see more of on Ladyface Blog? Any sorts of posts that I'm not currently doing that you would really like to see? If you have anything you would like to see, feel free to let me know in a comment, or as always, you can email me at ladyfaceblog@gmail.com to let me know!

By the way, on top of all of that, I'm working with a friend on some new blog design elements, that I'm really excited about. I can't wait til we finish up and I can update my blog layout!

Anyway, I think it's going to be good. Here's to positive changes and a lovely fall season!

Til next time!
