Weekend Wardrobe: A Pink Dress at the Pink House

Dress: Anthropologie; Necklace: Snash Jewelry; Belt: Vintage/Similar; Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens; Hair pins: DIY.

Wow, it was a busy weekend! Lately I've been feeling like it would be reeeallly convenient if the day was 4 hours longer. If I had a 28 hour day, I'd for sure be caught up on everything going on!

The summer weather has been just lovely the last week or so, and with it comes gorgeous produce at the farmers market. Friday I hit up the Phinney Ridge farmers market to purchase some of the summer bounty, and then headed home for some Friday night baking! I tried out another batch of cupcakes for my friends' wedding that's happening in a couple of weeks (!!!), and BOY were they good! More on that tomorrow. Promise!

Saturday was my dad'd birthday, so I headed to my parents' cute pink house for some birthday celebration! My sister and I gave my dad basically ALL the snacks for his birthday, which he was very pleased about! He didn't have much of a sweet tooth, other than for fruit, when my sister and I were kids, so I think we kind of delight in the fact that he's turned into a sugar fiend like the rest of us. It was a lovely afternoon with family, followed by a lovely evening getting drinks with my friend, Sarah.

Sunday was busy, busy, busy, running errands, working on projects, cleaning the house, and doing some canning (pickled okra!).

All in all a good weekend!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun or work on any fun projects?

Til next time!

-Becca

P.S. I'm still in the running to have my string art project turned into a DIY kit with Whimsey Box! If you haven't done so already, by sure to stop by craftgawker.com and favorite my project. There are only a few more days to vote!

  2. Aww sounds like you had a fun weekend!
After traveling every weekend for the past month,
I spent mine doing a little DIY around the house an d listing some new things on Etsy.
All in all, though, I totally agree... 4 more hours in the day (or an extra day in the week) would make my life a lot easier!

  3. obsessed with those shoes and your smile. the house we lived in when i was really little was pink! i wish i could go back and take photos there, but the people who moved in after us painted it an ugly color and didn't keep it looking nice. love that you hang out with your parents! my dad came over yesterday and watched a soccer game with me and my boyfriend and it was a real treat.

good luck catching up this week!

    1. Thanks, Nicole. You're the best! I think my parents are going to paint it at some point, but I hope they put it off and it stays pink!

That sounds like so much fun! I definitely got lucky and have great parents, so I'm always happy to spend some time with them. My mom and I are going berry picking on Friday, which should be fun!

Thanks for the well wishes, lady!

  4. Love the pink dress and that pink house! :-) Your dad impressed me earlier this month, with all of his berry knowledge - I got to try some yummy kinds that I had never heard of, all fresh off the hiking path.

This weekend I was up to my ears in wedding envelopes and a book project. I was able to take a break to see A Midsummer Night's Dream in the park, woot!

    Love ya!

  7. Gah, you are too adorable! Seriously, your blog just makes me smile every time I visit! This is such a great summer dress and I'm in love with the sandals. Sigh, Swedish Hasbeens, why must you be so expensive?

I just saw your post about the mix-tape exchange and that sounds like so much fun! I'm definitely going to email you to be included :)

    1. Lady, you are too sweet! I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying my blog. I know, they are expensive, but they're built to last, so I figured it would be worth taking the plunge. They are running 30% off on their website right now if you're looking to invest in a pair.

I'm glad you're interested in the mix-tape exchange. I think it's going to be a blast!

  8. This outfit is SO cute! And did I ever mention that I love your glasses? They're awesome. I love that that dress has stripes underneath the lace! Unexpected patterns are the best!
IT sounds like you had a great weekend! I can't wait to read about the cupcakes you're making for your friend's wedding; my husband and I did cupcakes in a jar for our wedding (and pie, and mints, and cookies, and tarts... we had a ton of desserts. It was fun!) and I love seeing how other people decorate their wedding desserts.
    What's pickled okra like?

This weekend, my husband and I shot a short film for the Gig Harbor 72 hour film competition. It was really fun, but really, really exhausting! But I got to do all of the makeup and hair (plus act, which I didn't want to do... oh well!) and costumes, and I LOVE doing that, so it was great!
    Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you so much, Kristina! You are too sweet! I'm excited to share the cupcake recipe. I'll be putting it up tomorrow, so check back. Your assortment of wedding treats sounds like it was AMAZING!

Pickled okra is awesome! I do a spiced pickled okra, so it's got some creole spices in there to give it some oomph. It's pretty tasty stuff!

Your weekend sounds awesome! I wish I could have seen what you guys came up with!

    2. I'll have to try pickled okra; I've only ever had it in the short stint we lived in Mississippi, and it was cooked oddly so it wasn't the best! But I do love anything pickled. Hehe.

I'll be posting the short film in October after the film festival so you can see it then!

    3. Definitely! It's one of those pickles that you start eating and just can't stop! It's also great for making gumbo when fresh okra isn't available!

  12. Aw, thanks, Marlen! Haha, trial and error is really the only thing I've ever done. It will be wedding cupcakes, fortunately, which will be much easier than a cake, but it's going to be a lot of baking!
