When I got Buddy and Hank (Buddy is the orange one and Hank is the black one, if you're wondering), I was not expecting to adopt kittens. I specifically went to the shelter looking for one adult cat. Yep, I went for ONE adult cat, and I came home with TWO 3 month old kittens.
I visited with quite a few adult cats, but none of them really felt like mine, you know? So I relented, and decided to visit that cute little orange kitten and his scrappy black and white brother.
Oh my gosh, you guys. I was in love the minute I picked them up. They were the sweetest little guys who loved to play and snuggle, and really seemed to love each other. They also seemed to really like me, and honestly, they felt like mine, so they obviously had to come home with me!
After filling out the paperwork and all that, my mom and I loaded the little guys into their carrier and began the drive home. It was hands down, one of the worst drives I had ever had! The kittens were TERRIFIED of being in the car; they yowled, and hyper-ventilated, and dug at the bottom of the carrier. Guys, it was rough. Once we got them to my house, they settled in a bit, but it honestly took a good week or two to do so completely. They were so sweet, and SO cute, but it took a while for us to get used to each other.
I'm so glad that I stuck it out during those rough weeks, because Buddy and Hank are the best! They're seriously the sweetest little guys.
Hank is quite possibly the friendliest cat I have ever met. He wants to be your new best friend the second you walk in to the house. He purrs all the time, meows at me every morning to pick him up, plays fetch (seriously), and has a whole lot to say. He also gets into plenty of mischief.
Buddy is just the sweetest. The picture above is part of the cuddle routine that happens almost every morning as soon as I wake up. Buddy cuddles a ton, can't get enough belly rubs, and claps when he wants things (basically the cutest thing you've ever seen). I really feel like Buddy picked me that day at the shelter a year ago. He's a shy little guy when he's around new people, but is so sweet and friendly when you get to know him. It sounds kinda dumb to say, but he feels like a kindred spirit.
They are totally partners in crime, and spend a lot of the day running around playing together, cuddling together, and getting into all sorts of trouble.
Buddy and Hank are the best furry friends a girl could have. They are such loving little critters, and make me smile and laugh every day. I'm so glad I brought them home a year ago and I couldn't imagine life without them.
Do you have any good stories about your favorite furry friends?
Til next time!

This is adorable! That first photo is priceless. I love adoptaversaries - it's so amazing to think back on how far we've all come since the first day we met our "adopted kids".

Happy Adopt-a-versary!! Becca, once Buddy greeted us with those big eyes and made all those silent meows when we arrived at the shelter, there was NO way he was going to let you leave without him and his brother! And what a delight they've been. They are two of the sweetest kitties I've ever met and they positively adore you! I love laughing with you at their antics--and sharing so many "awww's" over their never-ending cuteness. I'm so glad you found each other!
ReplyDeleteAhh!!!! He was just the cutest! They're the best. I love that you love them almost as much as I do so I can gush about them to you all the time!
Deleteso precious! two furry cuties :) wish I had a furry friend too, trying very hard to be patient and wait for the right time
ReplyDeleteThanks, Juni! I wanted to get a furry friend or two for years, but I held off. I finally took the plunge when I felt like my job was really stable and that I would be in the place I'm living in for a long time. The right time will come sooner than you know it!
DeleteYour cats are too cute!! Love your pink lipstick too :)

DeleteHappy adoptaversary! I volunteer with cats at an animal shelter, and it is just so heartwarming and touching to see people find their beast friends. I'm glad you were able to find some kindred spirits in these kitties (I definitely found my mini-me when I adopted my cat seven years ago).
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm so glad I found them, too. Furry friends are so wonderful. I'm glad you have one, too!
DeleteAww this post is so cute! Happy Anniversary guys ♥
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend's cat hates the car, whenever we had to take him to the Vet it was a mission. It was heartbreaking, he would yowl and cry the whole ride. I always felt so bad for him :(
Thanks, Irela. Oh no! Mine were so terrified that I honestly hope I won't have to put them into a car again. I was fortunate enough to find a wonderful vet in the area that does house calls, so that has been awesome! Maybe you can find one, too!
DeleteThanks, Marlen!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That's such a cute little story of how you got them! I have three cats back in Brazil and I miss them everyday. I'm not allowed pets at them flat I live in right now and I HATE that! Your cats are gorgeous! xx

Thank you! That's a bummer! I'm a tiny bit allergic myself, but then I have allergies all the time, so I figure, what's the difference?
DeleteAwww, they are sooo cute and adorable.

DeleteAwwwwwwwwwww... these guys. My heart melts. Can I come live with you and play with your cats? My husband might object, but um... he'll get over it. :D Haha! I WISH we could have cats at our rental house, but then again... maybe it's a good thing we can't because I'd have like five. We do have two neighbor cats who come over for love, though, and they are so sweet! I had a cat for nine years, up till I got married and had to give her away, and I adored her. She was the teeniest little kitten I had ever seen, just a scrap of tabby fur, but she had the loudest purr I've ever heard (anyone, actually; I always got comments about how loud she was) and she always wanted to cuddle UNDER the blankets. She was a great cat! I used to call her Mouse because she was little.
ReplyDeleteBut I do know the family we gave her to has kids that love her, so I'm okay with that. One day, we'll have a cat again!
Meantime, I'm going to instagram-stalk your cats because they're way too cute.
Kristina, you can come hang out with us anytime! That's nice that you have a couple of neighbor cats to visit. Your kitten sounds like she was the cutest! I'm glad she found a good home.
DeleteInstagram-stalk away! I do post too many cat pictures, so it should be easy to do!
Aww what a sweet story! I acquired all of mine at different times. The first one, some lady came into the library where I worked and said she had two kittens and if no one wanted one, she was going to take them to the pound. I said, is this a threat or something? Also, I'll take one. So I took one and another lady took the other. Then, my second cat came from my boyfriends folks, and then the third was living in the drainpipe outside my door and she was so skinny and tiny and she hasn't wanted to go back outside ever since she came inside 3 years ago!
