A Trip to Portland

Hotel Art || Endless Bucket of Dice || Mt St Helens || The Best Espresso Stand Name Ever

This last weekend I headed down to Portland for a fun weekend away with my friends Katilin and Nicole! The sun was out when we left Seattle so our drive down was gorgeous as could be. The drive was full of games of 20 Questions, junk food pit stops, gorgeous scenery, and one awesomely named espresso stand.

Upon arriving in Portland, we headed straight to West Elm for a textile stamping workshop hosted by Heather of Aspen Summit and Andrea of The Girls Fort. Both Heather and Andrea were sweet as could be, and we all had a blast following their tutorials to make our own homemade stamps! I ended up making a cute little apple stamp, which I used to make a tea towel, and a bow stamp that I used on my tote! To top the whole lovely event off, we all received a goodie bag filled with the prettiest little things. It was a blast!

We spent the rest of the day wandering around, shopping, eating awesome food, and then, admittedly, getting some much needed rest.
The next day was all about the cat show. Seriously. We went to the Portland International Cat Show and it was one of the cutest, most hilarious experiences I had ever had. My heart was so bursting with cuteness that I wasn't sure I would make it out alive!

After an hour or two squealing, we left the cat show, hit up a darling gluten free bakery and headed home. Our ride home was just as gorgeous as the ride down, and filled with just as much junk food. We stopped for more (obvs) somewhere in southern Washington and happened upon the prettiest gas station ever with an amazing view of Mt. St. Helens. We spent the rest of the trip playing 20 Questions and Six Degrees of Separation, and making ourselves sick on cheddar popcorn and gummy bears.

It was an awesome weekend spent with wonderful people, and I was so happy to have the adventure.

Did you guys get up to anything over the weekend?

XOXO

  1. I want to visit Portland really badly! Typical east coaster here-I'm nervous about the weather! (which is probably hilarious to a Seattle dweller). Is it really so grey?

    1. You should totally visit! We do have a fair amount of grey days, but we've had more sunny days this winter than I can remember in years. Also the summer is usually beyond gorgeous, so that's a great time to visit! Seattle is the best in the summer!

  2. That is so funny! I love going to out-of-the-ordinary events and places on trips! We did a 10 day, 11 state trip through the great lakes and Midwest one summer and stopped at this crazy museum for Zane Grey the author of westerns... I was reading one at the time, by chance, and we stopped in. It was ridiculous fun because it was so random. Those are some of the best moments from travels for me. Those little quirky places. I think visiting a national show of some sort could be really fun! :) Plus I looooove cats :) Hoping to get to Portland someday myself! :) -Alexandra

    2. They need to be seen! So so so so beautiful! It's got such a coastal feel for being in the 'Midwest' but tons of forest and no lobsters ;) Plus all the people are adorable and friendly. I'll have to pull out old pictures maybe do a post on it. It's been a few years :) I remember loving the whole region though :) Right now I just really want to get to New Orleans. Hoping for March :) -Alexandra

  5. i'm so giddy looking through these photos! i really want to take a girls trip like this. hopefully there will be an INTERNATIONAL CAT SHOW that we can go to. i cannot even believe that's a thing. friggen brilliant.

i also wanted to let you know that your less frequent posting somehow makes me even *more* excited for ladyface posts (if that's even possible). it also reminds me that you're taking care of yourself in-between, which makes me the most happy.

i will definitely be making some little stamps and stamping away soon! you're such an inspiration.

Aso, I'm so happy to hear that. I've been feeling weird about posting less so I'm really happy to hear that it's made my posts feel even more special. Your comments always make me feel like a million bucks, lady. Thank you so much!

  13. Portland is such a fun place. Seeing that you stopped at a gluten free place, you probably didn't go to Voodoo donuts... I'm not a donut fan, but do enjoy going there every once in a while. I love going up to Seattle.

    1. Sigh, no donuts for me. A friend of mine is supposed to bring me a couple of gluten free doughnuts down from Bellingham for me this week and I am PUMPED! I haven't had a doughnut in at least 5 years and it has been the worst. Portland is definitely fun. I need to go more often!
