The Best Raincoat

Well guys, I finally did it. I bought a raincoat! Not just any raincoat, but the cutest one I've ever laid eyes on.

Given that I live in Seattle, you'd think I'd own one or two raincoats by now. Well, turns out, I'm picky as all get out and stubborn as hell. For years I've known I should get a raincoat, but for years all I could find were plain, boring raincoats, that fit poorly and just made no sense for my style. Seriously, it's hard to find a raincoat you can wear a dress under!

Well, a couple months back, Boden released this pink polka-dotted beauty. I was in love. I finally took the plunge and bought it, and it arrived in the mail last week. I can wear it with a dress, it's adorable, AND it keeps me dry! It's seriously too perfect for words.

And ya know what? I got it just in time. After a surprisingly lovely, surprisingly dry winter in the Northwest, spring is upon us, and boy is it a rainy one (as witnessed by my super frizzy hair. Ugh. Does anyone else have this problem?).

These photos were taken during a dry spell we had for about an hour on Sunday afternoon. Katie and I had headed out to the outlet malls to do some shopping. I ended up leaving empty handed, but Katie definitely found some good stuff! After our shopping and photos, we headed to the Tulalip Casino for my very first time gambling. Just to preface it, I never win anything luck based. Never. So, I didn't exactly have the highest hopes. We ended up playing a few different slot machines, and while I was seriously losing at first, I happened upon some lucky machine and all in all ended up leaving $20 richer. Woo!

Otherwise, the weekend was a pretty lazy one. I ended up coming down with a cold on my first day at my new job last week, so between that and the new job itself, I was pretty worn out. By the way, sorry things were a bit quiet around here last week- the cold was to blame!

Anyway, all in all it was a very nice weekend and I'm looking forward to a healthier week this week!

Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

Til next time!

  3. Adorable rain coat! :) I have yet to find a true rain coat as well.... maybe this spring! Casinos are a really silly kind of fun. KC's parents like to go every once in a while. So we've been many-a-time... and enjoy it in moderation. Ours are super smoky most of the time. Do they allow smoking in the ones there? In Canada they didn't it was wonderful. :) Feel better soon! :) -Alexandra

PS: The coupon book was a hit. He was laughing and laughing and laughing. :) Thanks!

    1. Thank you, Alexandra! I think my stance on casinos is the same. They do allow smoking in the ones here. It's actually goofy, because it's just a loophole since they're on tribal grounds. You're not able to smoke anywhere else in Seattle.

I'm glad to hear the coupon book was a hit!

  4. looooove this coat! it needs something bright and yellow for spring. i have a friend who moved to seattle recently and i don't think she's found the perfect raincoat yet, but this is it for sure!

that's so cool that you went to a casino! i've never been to one. i just imagine they're all like the one in Twin Peaks...but hopefully not because that would be really scary. congrats on your big win!

    1. Thank you, Nicole! I agree, bright and yellow would be fun. I didn't realize you had a friend who moved here. Maybe I'll run into her someday!

They are pretty goofy. Definitely not Twin Peaks-y, but definitely kind of weird. It feels like night time even in the middle of the day!

  6. Yes me! My hair goes very frizzy when it is raining! Hate that! I also always wear a hat when I go outside in the morning, because the air is quite humid.
Love the raincoat, it's the cutest!

    1. I'm glad I'm not alone! If I wear a hat then I just muss my hair even more so I think I just have to deal. Haha. Thanks, Sofie!

  7. Ooh it's such a cute raincoat! I really need to invest in a mac like that, for when it's warmer but still shower-y outside. Feel better soon!

  8. I don't think there's a single photo of my 23 years in Eugene without frizzy hair! This is a perfect raincoat and every PNWer does need one. It's good you held out for the polka dots :)

    1. Thanks, Lisa! I adore the polka dots. Glad I'm not alone with the hair frizz. I was doing ok over the winter, but not that spring showers are upon us, every time I look at my photos I'm just like, "Sheesh! Frizz City!"
