Well, guys, it was quite a weekend! As you may have read in this post, Friday was my last day working at Theo Chocolate, a company I've spent the last 5 years working for. My last day there could not have been more amazing. I was met with flowers and baked goods that morning, had lunch with my department, and then headed to drinks with my coworkers for my going away party at the end of the day.

It's kind of stupid, but I feel really confident about friendships and interacting with people one on one, and then as soon as I'm presented with a group situation, particularly one centered around me, I'm immediately convinced that no one likes me and no one will come. Well, my coworkers squashed the hell out of those insecurities. Over 30 people, including the CEO of the company, came out for my going away party, and really showed me an amazing time. Between the thoughtful things people said, the shows of support, the card signed by almost the whole company, and the sweet gifts people gave me, I couldn't have been more touched or more overwhelmed by people's kindness. I'm sad to have left behind such an amazing group of coworkers, but I know I won't be a stranger and have been told that I'm welcome back any time. It pretty much took everything in me to not be choked up all day.

Since Friday was such a big day, I let myself have a reaaaalllllll lazy Saturday. Admittedly, I was a bit hung over when I woke up, but also just tired from having such an emotional day on Friday. On top of that, I had to rest up, because I had big plans on Sunday!

My friend, Michele, and I have the most amazing Oscars tradition, and so Oscars day is one of my favorite days of the year. We meet up, make ribs, drink champagne, and watch the Oscars and the red carpet. What could be better? Oh, well, let me tell you. This year we upped the ante and added Raspberry Champagne Jell-O shots to the menu! So good! It was a blast cooking, talking about all the Oscars red carpet fashion, and watching the awards.

Today, I've got a whole bunch of errands to run, and then tomorrow is the big day: I start my new job!

All in all, it was a REALLY amazing weekend, and I'm looking forward to the adventures this week will have in store.

What did you get up to this weekend? Do you have any Oscars traditions?

XOXO
Becca

  1. Your oscar tradition sounds like so much fun! I have decided that I REALLY need to see American Hustle now. P.S. Putting pop rocks on top if Jell-O shots is surprisingly amazing - FYI! :)

    1. Oh, why thank you! I'll be curious to see how this skirt looks with bare legs once it gets warmer. I'm worried it won't fare quite as well against my fair skin. I LOVE looking at the Oscars gowns. I can't wait to see which your favorite was!

  4. these pictures are the greatest, and i adore that skirt! super femme pieces with graphic tees are one of my favorite looks, and one i definitely have trouble pulling off this well.

so glad you had such a wonderful send-off from your (former) workplace. it sounds like you put in so much love and energy, and they returned the favor. i can't wait to hear all about your new gig!

also, those jello shots sound amazing. i missed the red carpet this year because i was stuck in traffic because it decided to freeze randomly in austin. lupita won the whole damn thing and my heart.

    1. Why thank you, Nicole! We finally got a Zara in Seattle, and I was SO pumped when I found this skirt there. I bet you would totally rock that look- you just need the right pieces!

Don't worry, the red carpet coverage was barely worth watching. I saw way more outfits during the actual awards show.

Also, thank you for always leaving the sweetest comments. You are the best, Nicole!

Thanks for the well-wishes! My new job is great so far. The only downside is that I came down with a cold on my first day! It seems to be passing quickly, though, so that's good!

Man, saying goodbye was rough! But, I'm friends with a lot of my coworkers and live near my old job, so I'm sure I'll still be able to keep up with everyone!

  17. I used to LOVE the Oscars and I haven't watched in years. I don't know what happened, but maybe if I had a fun party to go to it would be different. Maybe I need to host one next year... Your get together sounds awfully fun. I love the look of tees with cute skirts, always have, always will. What a pretty shade of pleats! I think most of us have some degree of social anxiety, oh man- where do I start! :)
