10 Things You (Maybe) Don't Know About Me!

Hey guys! Today I thought it would be fun to share 10 things that you might not know about me! I always love reading these sorts of posts on other people's blogs so I'd do one myself.

Ok, are you guys ready for some serious sharing? Let's do this:

1. I make up and sing dumb songs about everything. Especially about my cats. I think even they think I'm weird sometimes.

2. I pluck my eyebrows every single day. Sometimes twice.

3. The Clash is my all-time favorite band. If I could only listen to one band for the rest of my life, they would be the one I would choose. I'm still sad about Joe Strummer dying.

4. I'm 5'11" and weigh about 195 lbs. I'm not a dainty lady by any stretch, but I love my body and love that I'm healthy and at home in my own skin.

5. I couldn't roll my R's until I was 15. I spent the summer learning how.

6. I can count the number of times I've worn foundation on two hands. For some reason the stuff freaks me out. I've only ever worn it when I was in plays in school and I got pretty panicky when I had to put it on.

7. I have no piercings and no tattoos. I got my ears pierced as a kid, but they never healed properly so I let them close up.

8. I graduated high school when I was 16.

9. I don't have a driver's license. I just never got one. I have, however, decided that this is going to be the year I learn, so this will change soon! I'm 26, so I'm only, ya know, 10 years late on doing this.

10. I'm a total morning person. Even when I don't set an alarm it's weird if I'm not up by 8:30am.

Well, I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better! If you feel like joining in on the fun, I'd love to hear more about you! Feel free to spill in a comment, or even better, an upcoming blog post!

XOXO
Becca

  1. I love posts like these, it's much fun to learn more about awesome bloggers ^_^ I sing all the time too, usually just one part of a song that gets stuck in my head so I end up driving everyone crazy >.<

    1. I love them, too! I was really fun to finally do one myself! I'm glad I'm not alone with the singing. It seems like a lot of us have that habit!

    1. Thanks, Emory! I gotta figure that license business out. Washington re-did all of their permitting structure so getting my permit is a hassle. Hopefully I'll get it sorted out soon.

  3. we share an aversion to foundation...totally freaks me out too! also your eyebrows always look so good...and now i know why!!!

  4. Garsh, you are super tall Becca. It's a minor miracle you can find clothes that fit you so well.

  6. oh my gosh! i never would have known any of these things--especially the license or early high school graduating! does seattle have baller public transit? or do you bike everywhere? even when it's raining? so many questions!

i also don't like foundation, and wearing it also reminds me of school plays. i think it might be something about our generation because i know so few women who wear it on the reg. i do really love tinted moisturizer for little spots, and i have a lot of redness in my nose and (inner?) cheek area, but even then i don't use it often.

i want a vlog with kittens and kitten songs!

    1. Haha awesome! Seattle's public transportation isn't amazing, but it's solidly decent. Between bussing and walking I do pretty ok! I used to walk to work and now I catch a bus that's conveniently located a block from my house! And yea, I walk and bus even when it's raining!

I think you might be right! I use an un-tinted lotion, concealor, and a translucent powder that has no color or scent, but for some reason foundation freaks me out.

Haha, I think a kitten and kitten song vlog would maybe be super embarrassing. I'm a total nerd! But I'll keep it in mind!

  7. Love it! I also make up songs about everything. including my cat. Especially to the tune of preschool songs... Good luck learning to drive. Fun. :) -Alexandra

    1. I think a lot of us sing songs about everything! It's more common than I had realized! My friend, Nicole, always likes my songs about pets. I sing them about her dog, Ira, sometimes. I'm such a dork.

  8. I sing weird songs about my cats too!!!! like it sounds insane when I go about my day and sing about getting ready or kittens and their whiskers and paws! also, wow congrats on graduating when you were 16!! holly molly haha

    1. Thanks, Laura! To be fair, I turned 17 that summer and was the youngest in my regular grade, but I'm very glad I did it!

  10. When you said that you make up songs about your cats, it reminded me of a time when an ex-boyfriend and I sang along to songs we liked in only "meows". I told a friend about it later and she gave me the shady eye, and so I hadn't told anyone else until just now!

Don't feel bad about the driver's license thing... I didn't actually get mine until I was 23! I'm 25 now and lost my vehicle in a car wreck about a year and a half ago. Learning to drive properly in the winter is so important and I completely neglected that in my learning. I was so diligent about learning everything but it was summertime so I was just thinking about the wide open plain road!

Also, you look absolutely great at your height and weight! I'm 5'8' and weigh 200, give or take depending on if I've had pizza the previous night (har har). One thing people overlook (including myself) is that other things account for weight as well, and it's not just all fat. I mean, innards have to weigh something, right?

I think it's totally cool that you graduated early! Did you test out or did you skip a grade or what? I'm so curious! You seem like a smart girl so I am not surprised. :)

It was so wonderful learning these things about you!

    1. Haha, that's awesome! I'm glad I could provide a space for you to share your secret ;)

That's good to know that I'm not the only person getting their license late in life. I think summer or not I'll have to learn to drive in some weather. This is Seattle, after all!

Thanks, Danielle! I hear ya on the pizza thing. That's totally true. I have really wide hips and broad shoulders. I'm just not built to be a tiny little thing.

Well, I graduated a year early and had been in honors classes through Junior High so I started to accumulate some of my high school credits early. It turned out that at my school most people graduated with extra credits under their belt, so I did some research and figured out I only needed to take an extra class or two to graduate early, so I did!

  11. Well even I learned a couple of things from this posting, Becca! I knew you liked Clash, but I didn't know that they're your very favorite band. And I didn't know that you pluck your eyebrows every day! As for making up and singing dumb songs, well, I think that just might be genetic (ha!). I do the same thing (as you obviously know), as do two of your aunts. And your grandpa was the king of crazy made up songs--and nicknames, too. Also, you've been a serious morning person since you were a baby. I love all the things that make you one incredibly special and wonderful daughter. XO!

    1. Well, cool! I'm glad you could learn something even as my mother! I think the songs may be genetic. I'm pretty sure you rubbed off on me! Do you think Seester sings songs, too? Thanks little mother!

      Delete
    2. Actually, I discovered this summer that three aunts sing silly songs - one surprised me! It's a solid case for genetics. Just ask Mike about how I carry on. ;-)

      Delete
    3. Ohh, which one was the surprise? Also, totally genetics. Although, I don't know if Heather does...

  12. I love posts like this! And I too love The Clash -- Joe Strummer and I are birthday twins! And I'm very proud of this fact. I'm a morning person too! It's the best, ever! And I waited until I was 18 to drive, but I totally love it now.

    1. Oh that is awesome! I would be proud, too, and am, in fact, slightly jealous! I'm glad you love driving now- it gives me hope that I'll like it, too!

  13. I LOVE reading posts like this- so fun to learn more about you! I seriously wish I didn't have to drive EVERYWHERE and always dream of living a walkable life one day. What was your secret to learning to roll your Rs??? Serious question. I think that is something I am missing out on in life and I watched youtube videos once to no avail :) Also, can we be still be friends if I confess I've never plucked my eyebrows? I'm sure I should, but I plucked one hair, one time and the pain was too much for me :) Maybe I'll do one of these soon!

    1. Yay! I'm glad! Honestly, I don't know what my secret is! I just tried it, like non-stop for a summer and then eventually it happened. I feel like persistence is key. And heck yea! We can totally still be friends. Just because I'm obsessive about it doesn't mean you have to be!

I hope you do one soon. I'd love to learn more about you!

  15. I don't have a driver's license either, and I'm turning 24 this year. But I'm working on it!
And I'm also a morning person. Today I woke up at 6:50am without setting my alarm. Even when I went to bed very late after a party around 3:30am, it won't stop me from awaking at 8:00am (and then I need to catch up my sleep in the afternoon haha).
    Loved reading this, Becca!

  17. Oh wow, my boyfriend and I are CONSTANTLY singing little made-up songs. Our neighbors (and our cats. and our neighbor's cats) must think we're bananas. And I didn't get my license until I was 23! Better late than never. :)

    1. Haha, mine must think I'm crazy, too! I'm really glad to hear I'm not the only one getting a license late in life. Most people I talk to think it's weird that I don't have one yet!

  20. I loved this! I am 5'11" too so I know how you feel! Sometimes I just feel so massive, but I really have learned to love the body I'm in. Also, I make up dumb songs constantly too.

  22. Ah, so many new (awesome) things! I can't believe that you barely ever wear foundation (lucky lady) or that you don't have a license! Good luck getting it this year. It's totally worth it. And I had no idea you were that tall! Also lucky in that aspect. I absolutely loved reading this!

  25. I love these kinds of posts! Totally doing one!! I love the fact that you sing made up songs because I do the exact same thing to my dog and to my boyfriend! Also very jealous that you can get away with no foundation, I basically ruined my skin because I've been wearing makeup since middle school - that and my dad passed down his oily/acne skin. Boo! Anyways, thanks for posting! Looking forward to reading your blog more and getting to know you better!
