Weekend Wardrobe: Gingham in the Park

Dress: Vintage/Etsy; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens; Hair pins: DIY.

This weekend I had a lovely outing with Katie, of Katie Marie V, that included some shopping for stamping supplies (more on that later this week!), eating ice cream, getting interviewed and photographed for an online magazine (!!!), frolicking through a beautiful park in Wallingford, and having a photo shoot, obvs.

Since it was such a lovely warm day, I was really in the mood to wear some vintage (which seems to be the trend lately...), so I wore one of my favorite dresses, this vintage brown gingham number. Now, by some miracle of the internet, you too could own this dress! Seriously, check out this Etsy listing for THE EXACT SAME DRESS! Sometimes the world is super cool.

Til next time!

Weekly Wishlist: Kitchen Edition!

1. Tin Ceiling Tiles: Home Depot; 2. Stanley Thermos Flask: West Elm; 3. Ceramic Ice Cream Cone: Anthropologie; 4. Mini Ceramic Bowls: Anthropologie; 5. End Grain Cutting Board: Crate and Barrel; 6. New York Times Crossword Container: ModCloth

Well guys, this week I've got my kitchen on my mind. The space I live in has a nice bright and airy kitchen, so I love adding things that play that up.

I love the idea of adding wallpaper to my kitchen, but since I love how bright it is I would be interested in adding texture and pattern more than color. I've been obsessed with tin ceilings for years and think it would be lovely to use the tiles as panelling on the walls. Especially when it's a super cute pattern like this one.

Admittedly, I'm not a big drinker, but I love this flask so much I'd consider getting it just to carry around good maple syrup or something in case any emergency breakfast situations arose!

Also? Ceramic ice cream cone? Be still my gluten free heart! Sometimes you just don't want to have to use a spoon when you eat ice cream, am I right?

This set of ceramic bowls would make prep work in the kitchen breezy and beautiful. I used to always think it was crazy to pre-measure everything into little bowls like they do on cooking shows (so many extra dishes!), but once I started cooking more and making things like curry and pickles, I realized exactly how much time, energy, and stress it saved.

I've been using crummy IKEA cutting boards for ages, and they work just fine, but now that I'm doing more food photography I'd love to have a beautiful wood piece like this to work with.

Last, but not least, this adorable New York Times crossword puzzle jar. I can just picture myself doing a crossword at the kitchen table and drinking tea lightly sweetened with some sugar from my crossword puzzle jar! So fun!

What are you wishing for this week?

Weekend Wardrobe: Sunny Day Dress

Dress: Vintage/Similar; Belt: Anthropologie/Similar; Shoes: J Crew

As I mentioned in my wishlist post last week, I'm kind of in love with the sunny combination of yellow and white right now. I found this dress on the sale rack at a vintage store about a year ago for a measly $7. I obviously brought it home. For the longest time, though, there's been something about it that, well, needs something.

This weekend I decided to try my hand at fixing it up. First I thought I would shorten it and make it a v-neck, but after pinning that out, I decided against it. I was enjoying the longer length, and felt like it just needed something at the neckline, so I added a knit pointelle peter pan collar.

You can see the before and after above! What do you guys think, collar or no collar? I kind of love it both ways.

Regardless, check back later in the week because I'll be showing you how to pattern out a peter pan collar for any plain neckline you want to add one to!

Weekly Wishlist: Yellow and White Prints

1. Belt: Ruche; 2. Sweater: Ruche; 3. Shoes: Anthropologie; 4. Skirt: ModCloth; 5. Terrarium Necklace: Woodii shop on Etsy.

This week I'm falling in love with yellow and white prints. As per usual, summer hasn't hit Seattle quite yet, so I'm craving bright, sunny pieces. This striped sweater from Ruche is made of cotton so it would still be a great piece to wear on a sunny day, especially if paired with this adorable yellow and white polka dot wedges from Anthropologie! Admittedly they're a little higher than I would usually wear for walking up and down the hills in Seattle, but they're so cute I can't help but wish for them anyway!

When I wear bright colors, I usually end up pairing them with some neutral pieces like this adorable belt from Ruche and this super sweet fit and flare skirt from ModCloth.

My favorite thing on this whole list is this Terrarium Necklace from the Woodii shop on Etsy. It's filled with sand, pebbles, a pretty stone, and some beautiful moss. I love the idea of wearing a little terrarium all around town. Better yet, it's made by a local designer in Seattle! Love, love, love!

Weekday Wardrobe

Shirt: Anthropologie/Similar; Skirt: Thrifted, Vintage/Similar; Shoes: J Crew

I woke up to a sleepy grey morning, but knew that the day was going to warm up, so I opted for an easy look that would keep me comfortable and cool. I'm also on a big vintage kick after a successful thrifting trip over the weekend, so I wanted to keep the theme of the week going and wear a vintage piece today.

This shirt has been one of my go-to shirts since I got it as a gift during the holidays. I also am in love with this quirky printed skirt that I found for $2 at a garage sale a few weeks ago. It's got kings, birds, and music boxes as the print, with polka dots and triangles for good measure!

The shoes are from J Crew and are my favorite flats. I love the look of flats, but when they are completely flat it makes me feel like I'm tilting backwards a bit. These ones have a hidden 1/2" wedge that makes them super comfy, and just a touch of elastic around the toe to help them stay on your feet. When I worked in retail I could stand in these all day without my feet getting tired. They're on the pricey side, but J Crew runs some fantastic sales, so keep your eye out!

I also love an opportunity to mix prints, so I loved putting these two pieces together!

I'm looking forward to the rest of the warm days ahead and am amazed that Seattle is giving us some summer weather in June for once!

Til next time!

Weekly Wishlist: Navy Blue and Gold

1. Skirt: Modcloth; 2. Bag: Modcloth; 3. Shirt: Anthropologie;  4. Necklace: Ruche; 5. Shoes: Ele Handmade on Etsy.

This week I'm really into navy blue and gold.

This skirt from ModCloth would be a great piece to have in your closet because you could dress it up or down super easily. For a casual look I love it with these dreamy flats from Ele Handmade and this super cute t-shirt from Anthropologie, but also think it would be great with a pair of brown heels and a crisp white blouse with some sweet details to make it a little fancier.

I've been loving bows lately and think this necklace would be a lovely accessory to add to the outfit. Also, between the cut-outs and gold sparkle background, I cannot get enough of this bag!

Weekly Wishlist

1. Jean Jacket: ModCloth; 2. Shoes: ModCloth; 3. Bangle: Etsy;  4. Belt: Anthropologie; 5. Dress: Anthropologie; 6. Purse: Etsy

This jacket is a super versatile piece that would go great with dresses and skirts since it hits just below the waist. I love the gold polka dots on this belt and think they could make even the most basic look super fun! You could even do a DIY like this one from Skunkboy Blog to make some shoes to match the belt! I've also got a thing for vintage tooled leather bags, and I'm head over heels for this one (it says "Betty" on the strap!).

Maybe it's because I've been listening to too much Patsy Cline lately, but this week I'm loving a casual look with a touch of a western feel.

Weekly Wishlist

1. Sweater: J Crew; 2. Belt: Anthropologie; 3. T-shirt: Anthropologie; 4. Shoes: ModCloth (Swedish Hasbeens!); 5. Skirt: ModCloth; 6. Necklace: ModCloth.

Lately I'm loving mixing prints, like the cute little birdies on this skirt from ModCloth mixed with this simple, subtly striped t-shirt from Anthropologie. Since it's springtime, I'm also loving pieces that can be worn in warm or cool weather (how cute would this outfit be with tights on a cooler day?).

I'm wishing real hard for this outfit right now! What are you wishing for?

Til next time!
